My first OB appt

I had my first OB appt yesterday and it went really good. I like my doctor, she is really patient and also funny, which is actually important to me. I like to joke around so when she thought it was hysterical that I was stressed out about which way to put the hospital gown on (I always forget, is it open in the back or the front, lol), I knew we would get along.

My big concern yesterday was some brown spotting/discharge that I had had since Sunday. Im not going to describe it because Im sure you all can imagine but its still happening and its freaking me out. She did a complete exam though and didnt find signs of any current bleeding and said that most likely, its old blood and not to worry. So I will be working on not worrying until it goes away :)

I did get a quick ultrasound and saw both babies and their flickering heartbeats so that gave me alot of reassurance. My dear friend, Audrey, is also letting me borrow her home doppler so I am hoping to be able to hear the heartbeats soon.

Other than that, I ended my 4 day "No Puke" marathon this morning but I am still feeling better so Im happy about that.

I hope everyone is having a good week!

There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will.

I'm glad to hear your OB appointment went well. Having an OB who would laugh with us and "tell it like it is" too, was important for us. It's good that you landed with someone you like.

And, yes-- I will check into the blog world more often!

I've heard of other people spotting around the same time, and I've always heard that brown blood is old blood (which usually means not a problem). It's the bright red blood that signals something might be wrong.

I'm glad everything is going well, and it's good you like your OB so much. Mine's not my favorite and I think it'd make a big difference if I liked her more.

I bet the ultrasound was awesome! Wait until you get far enough along to see if you're having boys or girls and you'll even be able to see little features like whose nose they might have or how big their feet are. It's an amazing experience.

Still rooting for you and glad everything is great!

I'm glad everything went well. I have to say I think it's so important to like your OB and I'm glad you like yours. I love my OB and trust him 100% and it just makes the whole relationship so much better. I wouldn't worry about the brown spotting, normally brown is nothing to worry about although it's so hard not to.

Ah, yes, the talley of no puking days! How I remember that! I never made it past day 4 for quite some time. I hope you start feeling better soon!

I also had spotting around 7 weeks, and it was off and on for about 2 weeks. Everything was ok, hope that adds to some reassurement!

I'm still so excited that there are 2 mini shannons in there!! I'm glad your appointment went well :) Try not to worry about the spotting... I had TONS of RED bleeding early on (I was almost 8 weeks) that turned into brown spotting & it was nothing to worry about (easier said than done I know).

I'm glad you have a good dr. I know how frightening the spotting can be. I had it at 7 weeks and it was terrifying but it lead to us getting an u/s and finding the twins. Mine was brown and red but thankfully it went away after a few days.
Hang in there, it will go away and you'll feel a big relief. It's great that you did get to have the u/s and see them/their heartbeats.

The puke/no-puke dance is one you'll be doing for a while now. Just remember the second you see their little faces, it is allllll worth it.

And stay away from automatic flushers! =D

So happy you have an OB you like and the appt went well! Those dopplers can be a lot of fun to play with. Adam and I never seem able to stay on the hb for long, but it still cool to play with. GL!!
