First Bath

Since Joshua lost his umbilical cord 12/7 and Emma lost hers on 12/10, we decided to give them both a bath on Sunday. Before starting the baths, I was convinced that Joshua would not like his and Emma would love it. Well they proved me wrong!

Joshua went first:

So relaxed

All snuggled up

With mommy (and not happy, go figure! lol)
Joshua let us know he was done with his bath when he peed in the water. I grabbed him out of there pretty quickly so that he wouldnt get dirty again! Overall, he liked the bath even though he didnt like his first bath in the hospital.

Since things went so good with Josh, I was optimistic for Emma's experience. To say that she hated her bath is a severe understatement- she despised it. She let out repeated screams that sounded similar to a raptor in Jurassic Park. At some point, I just looked at her in wonder that such a horrible noise was coming out of such a small baby! Needless to say, Emma's bath lasted about 2 minutes.

Not happy

Absolutely furious

Still quite angry

The babies are 4 weeks old today, I cant believe it. They are getting bigger and bigger and I cant wait for their one month appointment next week to see how much they weigh. Im fairly certain that both of them are well over 7lbs, they feel so much heavier!

Thank you so much for your kind words about the passing of my grandpa. My heart is heavy but the support of friends does make a difference. So thanks!

Smile though your heart is aching;
Smile even though it's breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by.
If you smile through your fear and sorrow,
Smile and maybe tomorrow,
You'll see the sun come shining through for you.

Light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near,
That's the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile,
If you just smile.

That's the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile.

Oh, Kyle used to scream like that when his acid reflux would kick in. I always said "he's going pterodactyl". Thank God he doesn't scream like that anymore.

He loves his baths, but didn't get his first one until he was 3 months old due to his cast for his clubfoot. He LOVES them. Hopefully Emma will grow to like them, too.

Beautiful babies! I found that Josiah didn't like baths in the tub (like you have). I think he would get cold. But when I took a shower and held him, he liked it much better. He liked the water splashing on him. It obviously would be harder to do that with twins, and you don't want to HAVE to take a shower every time you want to bathe the babies, but if they sat in the tub and the water poured on them, rather than just sponge baths, Emma may like it better.

Cute pictures! :-)

Happy 4 weeks to them =)

Funny how you switched them up with which one would love the bath and which one wouldn't. Poor Emma!

"Like a raptor in Jurassic Park"--hilarious; I can totally imagine it. :-)

What helped us was to put a soaked, warm wash cloth on their chest/bellys while we bathed them. It made them feel more secure and warm. Next time try that out and see if it helps.

Beautiful babes!

These pictures of their first baths are just precious to say the least. I can see that Emma has a little bit of a temper :)

Don't worry they eventually love their baths and then you are wondering how to get them OUT of the bath without kicking and screaming!! Granted Kaylee still hates baths with a passion :)

You have beautiful kids!!!

Yay - bath time!! These pictures are precious. I love little Emma's 'angry' face - she must've been pretty upset but she looks SO cute:) Thanks for sharing.

Parker screamed during his baths at first but i think we were worried about the water being too warm and he was probably freezing. Since then we give him nice warm baths and he loves it. Try the wash cloth thing, that helped us too. He still absolutely hates getting out of tub though.
So sorry to hear about your Grandpa. YOu and your family will be in my prayers!

I remember that furious face! And those screams. *cringe* so happy to see that all is going so well for you. I keep seeing all the updates and photos and love every second of it. They will grow to love bath time though. Just watch out for the pooping in the tub. Anthony did that to me 3 times one day. Hopefully they don't do that to you!

Thank you very much for your reply on my blog…Proverbs 3:5-6 is a very comforting passage!

Adorable pictures!!!! Eeven when they scram :)

One thing we do in the bath is take a warm washcloth and lay it over Faith's tummy to keep her warm since her whole body isn't fully submerged and she LOVES bathtime :)
