Memorial Weekend Part 1

We spent Saturday with Dan's family, celebrating Memorial Day and Dan's Dad's 65th Birthday. Emma and Josh were pretty cranky all day before we got there but the had a lot of fun eating, watching Cornhole Hole and running around. Today we are off to my parent's house for a cookout and some swimming for Emma and Josh in the kiddie pool. Should be a fun day!

Just Sit 145/365

The other night, I told Emma to "go sit and wait for me" in the living room. I had just changed her diaper for bed and Dan had Josh in our bedroom to put on his lotion. I just wanted to grab laundry but before I knew it, I had grabbed laundry and straightened the changing table and wiped down the bathroom counter and it must been 5 minutes! I panicked and ran out into the living room, but there she was...just sitting and waiting!

Another week with more storms means more craziness for this insurance adjuster mama! I am so glad tomorrow is Friday and that I will have 3 days to spend with Emma and Josh.

Both:

1. They have learned to blow kisses. Josh makes a huge smacking noise when he kisses his hand.

2. They both love these little girls that live next door. There are 4 of them ranging from 16 months up to age 11 and when they see them, Emma and Josh yell "girl, girl" and then want to go over. They like to point at things on their shirts and hug them, so precious.

3. When you ask them "What does mommy say," they both shake their head and say "No, no, no" Oh boy...

4. Some new words I heard this week were bike, towel (to-wa) and food

Emma:

1. She likes to bring me her clothes and shoes in the morning when its time to get dresses. Of course she brings them to me and then runs away but we are making progress!

Josh:

1. He loves if you hide from him and loves it even more if you yell "Boo" really loud when you peek your head out. He laughs so hard and then waits for you to do it again!

Little Help From My Friends 143/365

Josh has been really interested in pushing Emma on one of their many riding toys. She doesn't always want to be pushed but he always tries. I love the second picture- his pants are almost falling off but he is still pushing!

Diaper 142/365

Emma enjoying Josh's chair in her diaper. Josh would not sit still for longer than a second so I couldn't get a picture of him!

Fridays 141/365

We took Emma and Josh out to eat and they did great. I cut up a bunch of fruit for them and they ate that while we waited for our food. They also loved drinking from the straw.

Hats 140/365

It was really warm and sunny so I made Emma and Josh wear hats while we were outside. Emma left hers on without any complaints but Josh kept waiting until I turned my back and then taking his off. But the hats kept the sun off their little heads, which is good!

My sister came the other day and in true "Emma and Josh Fashion," they had her reading to them within minutes!

TIDWTFT

Emma and Josh turned 17 months this week, I can't believe it! I thought I would do a post that recaps their schedule, favorites and general things about them for my TIDWTFT.

Schedule:

6:30 Wake them up for the day

9-10:30 Nap

11:30 Lunch

1:00-2:30 Nap (yes, they still take 2 per day!)

2:30 Snack

4:30 Dinner

6:00 Bath

6:30-7:00 Bed

Favorite Foods:

Emma: Cheese, bread, peas, watermelon, grapes, cheerios, pasta, chicken

Josh: Waffles, cheese, peas, blueberries, watermelon, ravioli, milk and more milk

Favorite Words:

Emma: Shoes, cat, tutu, mama

Josh: Car, shoes, bird, ball

Favorite Things To Do:

Emma: Read, take care of her baby (she has now started feeding her puffs!) and stack blocks

Josh: Read, run from me and hide, knock down Emma's blocks

General Info:

- Both wearing size 4 diapers

- Both wearing 18 month clothes but Josh can fit into some 24 month shirts but the pants or shorts are too loose on him

So that's my 17 month old toddlers. One more month and they will be a year and half. And then six months until their 2nd birthday. Slow down, time. Slow down!

Pop 138/365

Emma and Josh love regular household items and today they got their hands on an empty two liter, they were so excited. I caught this picture of Emma, she has such a crazy look on her face!

Watermelon 137/365

Emma and Josh loved watermelon last year and they love it again this year. Now, I can just give them a piece and they take their own (very messy!) bites, so cute!

Daddy time 136/365

Emma and Josh love reading, especially with Dan!

Swiffer 135/365

Josh has an obsession with pushing the Swiffer up and down the hall. And he gets so mad when the cloth falls off, he tries his hardest to get it back on. Anything to get a little help with some housework...!

TIDWTFT

Well I tried to get this post up yesterday but Blogger was down most of the day for me- boo!

This has been a great week. We've been able to get outside a lot with the kids after work and for me, work has been more manaegable so I am feeling good. Here is my post!

Emma:

1. She recognizes a lot of the Sesame Street Characters in a book that we have including Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster (in which she screams "Cook, Cook!" when she seems him) Abby Cadaby and Zoe. She often calls Zoe "Toot" though because she wears a tutu.

2. She has become a lot more clingy with me and reaches for me the minute she gets up and wants to be held. She also wants me to hold her before Dan takes them in the morning and then right when I pick her up.

Josh:

1. He is such a funny eater and drinker. When he eats, he acts like he is ravenous and shoves a fistful of food in his mouth. And he loves his sippy cup or straw cup, he carries it everywhere and takes huge sips of it all the time.

2. He has had a few tamper tantrums lately when we ask him not do something. He will throw his beloved sippy cup, drop his head backward or scream really loud. And so it begins.... haha!

Swinging 131 and 132/365

Last year, Emma and Josh were not huge fans of the swings. This year? They love them. We had to go back a couple times and put them back in the swings because they had so much fun. They look like such big kids in them!

Ride 'Em 130/365

Check out Josh, riding the spinning Zebra, he loves to bounce up and down on it. And yes, he is wearing a hat and clutching Elmo, he is funny like that!

Happy Mother's Day? 129/365

I thought it would be nice to get a picture of me with the kids for Mother's Day. Emma and Josh? Yeah, they had other plans which did not include taking a picture with me. Oh well, maybe next year!

Messy face 128/365

Even though its a mess to clean up, I love when the kids have dirty faces after eating, they look so cute!

Like father, like son 127/365

Dan cut the grass for the first time last night and of course, Josh had to get out his lawnmower and help. The grass was a bit wet and still kind of long so it made it hard for him to push his mower but he tried to keep up as good as he could. It was so cute and he looks like such a big boy!
