Pinning 212/365

I am newly hooked on the website Pinterest and, as it would appear, Emma is hooked on it too. She is still sick today but I caught her on the computer, trying to click on Pins.

Another Sickie 211/365

Emma seemed to have a touch of what Josh had (fever, crankiness, slight diarrhea) today after she woke up from her nap. The one thing that would console her, however was eating grapes right out of the bag like a big girl. Although she looks miserable in the pictures, I promise, the grapes made her feel better!

A merger, of sorts

I just realized how time consuming it is for me to keep a separate photo blog for Emma and Josh- Im just going to post my daily photo on this one, why bother keeping it separate! So I have imported my 365 blog- here's hoping its easier for me to just manage this blog!

Sickie 210/365

Josh seemed to catch a little bug last night. He ran a fever (at its highest it was 103.7) but didn't really have any other symptoms, except what would appear to be insomnia since he stayed up almost all night and wanted me to hold him. In this picture, he couldn't even keep his eyes open even though it was only 5:30 pm.

Pillows 209/365

Emma found her way to my living room couch and now she loves to sit behind all the pillows!

Every time I have more than a weekend off with Emma and Josh (I am off of work the entire week this week...) it makes me appreciate them so much more. I have a harder time selecting one thing about each of them that I don't want to forget, its just being with them that I want to remember. I want to remember looking back at them in their car seats when I am at a red light. Emma is normally sucking her thumb and looks at me with her big eyes. Josh is typically laughing and trying to take off his shoes. I want to remember the sound of their laughs, their words, the way they say "mama" "dad" and each others' names.

Time goes by so quickly, each moment is precious. I feel fortunate that I am able to be a mom to two of the funniest, most determined, oftentimes impatient but still lovable kids I know:

Josh

Emma

I hope I never forget how lucky I am to be their mom. I hope that I remember that even though its hard and challenging, its worth every moment!

Vacation favorites 206-208

We've been in Columbus for the past few days and although I took hundreds of pictures while we were there, I didn't do any blogging. So here are a few of my favorites so that I can get caught up!

Emma with the pretend sink at Cosi. She kept saying "wash, wash" and then pretended to turn on the water.

Josh wearing the construction hat at Cosi, he loved it although it was too heavy for his head.

Emma, Josh and me cuddling in bed before it was time for them to go to sleep. Emma looks so tired!

First Vacation

This year, we decided to be brave and take our first mini-vacation to Columbus, which is 2 hours south of us. We went for 3 days and 2 nights and Emma and Josh had a great time! Dan and I had fun, too, but we are still exhausted!

We spent one day at COSI (a really cool science center) and then another day at the zoo. The last day, we did more swimming and then went to a local mall to eat lunch and play at a playground before we hit the road!

At COSI, Emma and Josh loved the Kid Place, where they could run and play on this huge indoor playground. There were plastic balls everywhere and they could put them down slides and down large tubes.

Emma tried to carry as many balls as she could!

Josh, taking a break

They even had a super long water table, which they loved of course! Both of them got soaked but they had fun.

Josh loved trying to touch the running water

Look how soaked Emma's dress was!

We then checked into our hotel and ate some Boston Market. Emma and Josh didn't even use highchairs, they just stood at the coffee table and ate. We then put them to bed in the pack n' plays but only Josh would sleep in his for the first night. Emma ended up in bed with us.

The next day, we went to the zoo first thing in the morning. We saw many animals but their favorite was the Aquarium. We could barely pull them away from the fish.

And Emma! She loved that she could see herself in the glass

In the afternoon, we went swimming and it was their first time in a big pool. Emma loved it right away and kept trying to swim away from me (she is so independent!) Josh was a little more apprehensive and kept yelling "wet" and then "sit" because wanted to sit on the side of the pool.

Emma loved to "sunbathe" on the chair

All in all, we had a great time! We learned to be pretty flexible on the trip with their eating and sleeping schedules. They only took a 30 minute nap on our way down and then each of them took turns not napping at all one of the days we were there. We basically fed them whenever they were hungry and it wasn't always their usual fruits or healthy items I try to feed them. They each even ate a piece of licorice (crying like crazy in the car calls for desperate measures) and although they won't be doing that again for a long, long time, it worked at the time.

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!

Seems So Small 205/365

They are replacing our street (which is such a pain, I can't even tell you...) so we have had some heavy equipment outside of our house for a couple days. Josh loves it and is always yelling "tuck, tuck" (truck) so we took some pictures of him by it.

Entertainment 204/365

I know that all kids are amazed my every day household items but it seems like those are the favorite toys of Emma and Josh lately. Their newest fascination? The heating pad. We don't plug it in, of course. And we watch them while they play with it. But they each like to hold one end and inspect it. And Josh will go to our bedroom and say "Pad, Pad" until we get it for him.

"Well Josh, I can tell you all about how the heating pad works..."

Emma looking cute with the heating pad...

...and Josh looking sly and sneaky with it!

I am so excited, two more days and then I am off for an entire week, woohoo!

Both:

1. They love to brush their teeth. By this, I mean they love to stand at the sink and say "tee, tee" until I hand them the toothbrush. Then they proceed to walk around with the toothbrush and brush anything that might or might not have teeth.

2. They have started trying to use a spoon. They will place the food on the spoon and then move it towards their mouth. They don't always get it in there but they are so proud when they do!

Emma:

1. She is teaching herself to hop. She will stand there and then lift her heels, bend her knees and try to get up in the air while yelling "hop!"

Josh:

1. He loves to help do things around the house. After they finish eating, he often grabs the broom to help sweeping. And I taught him how to pick weeds out of my flower bed (even though he prefers to pick the actual grass!) He will pick some and then look for the bucket I put weeds in, he knows right where they go.

Rain watching 203/365

It rained really hard last night and Emma and Josh wanted to badly to see it. So when it slowed down, we opened the front door and they were so happy to watch it drizzle!

Appointment

We took Emma and Josh to their 18 month appointment (although they just turned 19 months) and found my tiny babies have turned into 3 foot tall toddlers!

Josh: 36 inches (95th percentile) 24 lbs, 11 oz (25th percentile)

Emma: 35 inches (95th percentile) 23 lbs, 12 oz (50th percentile)

In true Emma and Josh fashion, they screamed basically the entire time we were there. I guess they just don't like to be messed with!

At this rate, they are going to be two before we know it. Slow down!

Gamers 201 and 202/365

Its so hot during the day and we can only do activities for so long so today, Dan found another way to entertain Emma and Josh- they watched him play golf on the X-box and loved it!

Reading Buddies 199 and 200/365

Emma and Josh have started sitting in our big chair and "reading" together. Its cute until one of them steals the others book and then the crying begins!

Silly Boy 198/365

Josh was sitting so nice on the couch so I grabbed the camera. The problem? He wouldn't look at me! The only time he looked at me is when he fell over and started laughing, which ended up being pretty cute!

Ruff-Ruff 197/365

Josh and Emma have this small plastic dog that has recently become their favorite toy. They like to run up and down the hall and the faster they run, the faster the dog barks. When the dog barks, Emma and Josh yell "ruff, ruff!" They even get Dan in on the fun, too!

Another week, another week. They seem to fly by lately!

Both:

1. They are using a lot of words now and will repeat a lot of what they hear. The other day, I drove the few minutes from Dan's parent's house to our house and asked them to say words the entire way and they repeated almost all of them.

2. They love Barney. I let them watch a 25 minute On-Demand episode most days so that I can cook dinner or so we can eat and they are riveted by it. They also bring us the remote a lot and say "Bar, Bar"

Emma:

1. Speaking of Barney, she loves to imitate the songs and dances she sees on the show. She has three that she is really good at and can do the hand motions or parts of the dance (Itsy Bitsy Spider, Do Your Ears Hang Low, and some bird by my window song)

Josh:

1. The other morning, he saw me walking down the hall with the electric griddle to make pancakes and he took one look at it and said "pa-cake" for the first time. I thought it was so smart that he connected the griddle to the pancake and then said it!
