Remote 301/365

I came in to find that Josh had removed the back from the remote. I asked him what he was doing and he said "'mote" and then "broke" I figured he tried to turn on the tv and couldn't so now he was trying to fix the remote!

"Hmm, wonder what's wrong?"

"Maybe if I take the back off..."

"What? Im just trying to fix the remote!"

My Guy 300/365

Oh how I love moments like this!

TIDWTFT

Emma:

1. She loves to eat. She will finish her meal and then try to move onto mine. She also makes me nervous because she shoves so much food into her mouth. I counted 15 yogurt melts and put them on her tray. I turned for a second and looked back- she had put every single on in her little mouth!

Josh:

1. He loves when I blow on his belly even though he wiggles away. But the second he is away from me, he kind of scoots back and says "Josh. Belly. Blow" So I do it again and he goes crazy, moves away and then comes back. So precious!

Both:

1. They can repeat the entire alphabet, I can't believe it! They say the letters so clearly, too. When it come to "W" though they say "Double Ewww" Cute, cute.

2. They have started saying two words together and the ones I hear the most often are "more milk" and "sit down"

3. When I read "Goodnight Moon" they both fight to point out the mouse, which shows up on most of the pages. They can find him in about two seconds. And if I ask "How big is the mouse" they both say "tiny" because I always told them to look for the "tiny mouse"

Cleaning 298/365

I met this woman and she said to me "I bet your house is so clean since you aren't home all day with the kids" and I politely smiled and said "no, I'm always struggling to clean, too." I wish I would have had these photos to prove it!

This time, I caught Josh trying to get back in the crib and then doing some kind of acrobatic yoga move!

Glasses 293/365

Josh and Emma both love glasses. Dan wears them so they are always trying to get his. We decided to make them each a pair out of pipe cleaners and they were a huge hit!

TIDWTFT

Well hello again! Another Thursday, they seem to come pretty quick lately. This week, Emma and Josh turned 22 months and honestly, I couldn't believe it. In less than 2 months, I will have 2 TWO YEAR OLD TODDLERS at my house. Amazing.

My TIDWTFT is about both Emma and Josh, they are doing a lot of the same things this week.

1. Dan taught them "rock, paper, scissor" and they do it pretty good. They have a little trouble making their fingers into scissors but they are getting it.

2. They have started calling me "Mommy" instead of "Mama" and for some reason, it completely melts my heart. It sounds so, so cute.

3. They repeat just about everything they hear. (Every.thing. Now is a good time to clean up the language!) They have heard me say "Oh boy!" and "Oh no!" and both of them say it a lot now.

4. I am amazed at what they understand. They like to turn off the light and say "dark" and then turn it back on and say "bright." They also can find items by color. I ask them to find me a "yellow fruit" and they will bring the banana. They have a harder time actually identifying the color though. If I ask them "what color is the banana" they might say "red"

5. They have pushed their bedtime to 7:30. For the past year, they have been going down at 7:00 but just this week, they would not have it. So we started doing 7:30 and they go right down. We like the extra time with them but it does feel weird since we've been so used to them going to bed at the same time.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Boat 292/365

I heard a big crash (which is never a good thing...) and then heard Josh say "boat, boat!" so I ran into the living room. I was happy to see he had just turned the picnic table over and was now using it as a boat. He played in it for a long time.

Fashion Continues 291/365

Today I look at Emma and notice she has pulled her arm out of her shirt just like Josh did the other day. Of course I had to snap a picture!

Early Spooky 289 and 290/365

I decided to put some Halloween themed clothes on Emma and Josh today because, well, Halloween is only two weeks away. Mine as well get our use out of them!

Another Fashion Statement 288/365

I was folding laundry and Emma found Dan's old basketball jersey from high school. She kept saying "dress, dress" so I tied it up and let her walk around in it.

'Ello, 'Ello! 287/365

Emma and Josh love to walk around with the phone for a long time and say "Ello? Hi. Hiiiiiiii! 'Ello" I wonder where they get that from...

Before Bed 285/365

I caught these cute pictures of Emma and Josh, right before bed. They are still a bit wet from their bath, holding their milk cups and all warm in fleecy pajamas. Too sweet!

Two little bugs...

Josh

Emma, with her eyes barely open

TIDWTFT

Emma:

1. Like Josh, she says "no" to a lot of things that I ask her but her "no" is so much more forceful. "NO" and "Nope" are more common responses when she doesn't want to do something.

Josh:

1. His obsession with trucks and cars continue and he has started calling them by the specific type of truck. His favorite are "mail truck" "dump truck" and "police car"

Both:

1. They love to point to everything and name it. Their "name game" normally goes like this: "Mama, Dad, Josh, Emma, Mama, Light, Couch, Mama" So precious

2. They are both getting really good at using utensils. I have started giving them the small soup spoons and salad forks and they can pick up just about anything and eat it.

3. When they really, really want something, they had a "y" to the end of its name. The most common are "milllkkk-y" and "boookk-y" It sounds so whiny and so funny.

Chasing 283/365

I actually like this picture of me and the kids. I am chasing Emma and trying to get Josh to follow. Pretty much represents my life!

Oh and for your viewing pleasure, the picture we ended up getting? Looked a little something like this...

Breaking Out Update

We have come up with a solution to Josh and Emma breaking out of their cribs. Its most likely temporary but really, temporary is all we need right now.

What we did was completely remove the spring portion of the crib. We then placed the spring portion on the floor, using the brackets that hold the spring portion as legs. I then put two storage boxes under the spring portion and put the mattress directly on top. It lowered the mattress by 6 inches, which in toddler measurement, is just low enough to keep them in the crib. For now.

Emma's crib. You can see how the mattress is still sitting on the springs but I had to put a box under it for more support

Josh's crib. Definitely lower than before.

Oh, and Emma. Not happy that I am taking pictures when she just woke up!

My goal is to keep them in those stinkin' cribs until we move to a new house. We have every intent to move within the next 6-9 months. At that time, they can have their own room and new "big kid" furniture but for now, I am hoping this works.

We put them to bed 20 minutes ago and although I hear their usual chatter, I don't hear any thuds, bumps or feet walking on the floor. Let's hope this works!

Breaking Out 282/365

Last night, we put Josh and Emma to bed around their usual 7:oo pm bedtime. Around 7:45, I was on the computer and I heard some laughing. And then a thump. And then footsteps. And then the door knob turning! Yep, Josh had jumped out of his crib.

Re-enactment of him jumping out, for photo purposes

In his "new"bed. The front rail of the crib comes off so for now, we will use this

All cuddled up with Mikey

How I found him this morning!

Of course, once we got Josh into his bed, we heard another thump and Emma jumped out! By this time, it was late and we were all tired so Dan removed her front rail. The problem? Emma was not having it. She pitched such a fit that we let her sleep with us. We've already started telling her that tonight, she sleeps in her new bed. We'll see how it goes...

Pumpkin Patch Day

We went to pick out pumpkins today at a local place, Mapleside. It was pretty hot out and super crowded so we didn't stay long but Emma and Josh had fun. They loved the pumpkins and loved the big bales of straw. Its such a beautiful place- I will be posting other pictures throughout this week.

Josh tried to pick up every pumpkin there

This is about as good as it gets for a picture of both of them

Emma loved sitting on the pumpkins

And Josh did, too!
