TIDWTFT

We had a nice week at our house. Sickness is gone and the kids seem to be in better moods, which has made things a lot easier around here.

 Both:

1. They talk to each other a lot but most of the times, they argue back and forth. Things like "I did that" and the other will say "NO, I did that" (most of the time, neither of them did it but whatever) The funniest argument this week was about how to pronounce the word "Banana."

Josh: "Its Bee-nana"
Emma: "No, its Ba-na-na"
Josh: "No, its Bahhh-naaa-naaa"

They both proceeded to laugh hysterically and say "Bahhhh-naaa-naaa" over and over.

Emma:

1. She is really into playing doctor courtesy of her new idol, Doc Mcstuffins on Disney. She carries around a doctor bag, crammed with all of her doctor tools (which is mostly play food and Little People toys) and checks out all of her toys. Its so precious.

Josh:

1.  He repeats a lot of what we say.  This week, he has been saying "Oh, I got a good idea" all the time.

We Scream for Ice Cream

We took Emma and Josh to get ice cream the other night. We had a long day so we just went through the McDonald's Drive Thru. Last summer, I held a cone for Emma and Josh and they shared one. I wrongly assumed that they would share this year. I was sitting in the back middle seat of the van and when Dan passed the two cones back, Emma and Josh promptly grabbed the cones from my hand and started eating! I got a couple licks of each of the cones but for the most part, they finished them up. They kept saying "mmmm, this is gooood!"

Strep Free Swimming

The warm air and a handful of Amoxicillin has done wonders for our house. Friday was still a bit rough but by Saturday, everyone was feeling better. We were able to get out to some stores, grill out food and try out Emma and Josh's new inflatable pool. They love it and although I didn't get any pictures of it, I can assure you that I love it, too!

See ya later, strep!

TIDWTFT

In lieu of a TIDWTF this week, I am writing so I can remember something that I would actually like to forget.  (Does that even make sense? Probably not.  Because I have a 103 degree fever)

Oh yes.   There is something just as bad as two sick toddlers.  Two sick parents.  Sick at the same time.  Parents that can barely move due to high fevers, body aches and sore throats.  We are going on day 3 of this illness and it is THE WORST. I have been managing to get some work done because I have a job that I can easily get behind in if I am not there.  But Dan has barely left the house since Monday.  Neither of us have eaten more than once a day due to the throat pain.  We basically did "rock, paper, scissors" to see who would go get milk last night since our poor kids were begging for it and we ran out of milk on the day we both got sick.

I pray that tomorrow is better.  And that Emma and Josh gave us this sickness and don't get it from us.

Sickness has invaded, HELP US!

Or maybe not playing...

And the sickness continues. Josh seems better today and is runny nose is almost gone. His rash also is gone from everywhere except a little on his belly and on his feet. He didn't mention being sick all day and was running around like crazy. Emma, on the other hand, did not have a good day. She woke up ok but her nose started running immediately and by 9, she had a high fever and just wanted to lay on me. She spent most of the day sleeping, crying, or telling me her mouth and tummy hurt. Around 4, she seemed to perk up and her fever was gone but as I type this, she is already back sleeping in our bed after telling me her tummy hurts. We'll see how tonight goes...

Sick but still playing!

Ugh, its been ongoing sickness at our house. Josh started last week and ended up having strep. Both Emma and Josh started with runny noses this week and they are constantly running. Yesterday, Emma had a fever and was miserable and then Josh broke out in a rash (I am thinking its a reaction to his fever and strep from last week) All the sickness didn't stop Emma and Josh from getting outside today and digging. Oh and eating watermelon, of course!

Here's hoping we can have some time with no fevers, runny noses or sickness!

TIDWTFT

I just realized that Emma and Josh are 29 months old today...one month until they are 2 1/2.  Wow, time flies!

Emma:

1. She has been cheering herself on lately.  When she is running after bubbles or trying to do something quickly, she will say "Go Emma, Go Emma!"  It is hysterical.

2. She is so funny.  The other day she told me "I'm going to bite you tiny" and when I told her "We don't bite" she put her mouth on my arm and barely put her teeth on it and said "See? tiny bite"

Josh:

 1. He is getting over strep throat, we found out he had it last week.  It took me a couple days to figure it out because he kept telling me his tooth hurt.  When I finally asked him to point, he pointed to his throat and I checked it.  I took him in right away because it was so red and had white spots.

2.  He asks me to drive around after I pick them up so that we can look for trucks.  He also remembers if we saw a truck in a certain place the day before.  He will tell me "Excavator there yesterday, mama.  But not today!"

Mother's Day

I won't lie. I didn't get to sleep in for Mother's Day. The kids were crazy. I didn't get breakfast in bed or a pedicure or a fancy gift. We went to church in the morning and then we had Dan's parents over our house for brunch. In the afternoon, we went to my parents' house and had a cookout. Relaxing? Not much. Exhausting? Absolutely. But when we got home, Emma and Josh were sitting in our bed and both looked at me and said "Happy Mother's Day, Mama" and it reminded me that its not glorious or easy to be a mom. But it's worth it.

Month 5: Frugality

I have come to accept the fact that although I might be working on something or things are happening with the kids, it just might not get into the blog right away.  That's that.  Step 1, Acceptance.

This month for my 12 in 2012, I am focusing on Frugality.  I have already done a good amount to work towards this and look forward to sharing my progress in a couple of posts throughout the remainder of the month.

I know that when some people hear the word "Frugal", they automatically think "Cheap" but to me, it means learning to make the most out of every dollar you have.  I have not always been great with my money but Dan is really good at thinking about the money he spends and not just buying for the sake of buying.

My goals for this month are:

1. Try out a thrift store and see what I can find to use or re-purpose
2. Do a comparison on price between my usual grocery store and another store
3. Curb my impulse purchases (mostly candy and drinks from drugstores)

TIDWTFT

Emma and Josh have been so much fun this week. They are constantly saying new things and coming up with funny stories!

Both:

1. They have been playing with a flashlight and love to search our house for ghosts and bats.  And no, we don't live in a house with ghosts or bats but they are always searching for them.

Josh:

1. He has been a bit more difficult to put to sleep and he has had problems staying in his crib. The other night when I put him to bed, I said "I am not coming back in here, its time for bed." and he said "I know, Mommy relaxing!"

Playing with the water table

Enjoying popcorn for the first time

Emma:

1. She loves to sing but prefers to scream the songs.  Her newest favorite is a song from Doc McStuffins on Disney.  She has been screaming "I feel better, so much better. NOW!"

Emma loved her popcorn
