12ish in 2012

At the beginning of the year, I embarked on an awesome project that I found on MaMe Musings  called 12 in 2012.  When I read about the project, I immediately fell in love with it.  I loved the idea of selecting one item each month to focus on.  I loved the idea of blogging about my progress.  I loved the idea of being able to look back on the year to see how I had progressed.

What I didn't plan on was how hard it would be to document my progress.  I did good for a few months but then June came, I couldn't keep up.  I could insert a million excuses but in the end, work and raising two crazy toddlers has just taken up a large chunk of my time.

I am a believer, however, in the concept that its not how you start but how you finish that matters.  As a result, I am prepared to redeem this project and finish strong!  To do so, I have decided to focus on the three things that matter most to me:

October: Faith
November: Family
December: Happiness

My goals for October are:

1. Read the bible 5 times a week for 15 minutes per day
2. Select 5 bible passages that I can memorize and refer to daily
3. Reach out to one person and share the power of God's love

So that's that. Im back on track and ready to finish the year with this project.  And more importantly, I am looking forward to updating on my progress!

New Eating Arrangements

Emma and Josh have recently decided that they are too big for their high chairs (and clothes, as it would appear) so we have removed the Space Saver Seats from the chairs and are trying out the new arrangements. Overall, it seems to work but its a lot messier as the food doesn't just stay on their tray. But they seem to be happier so we will keep trying it out!

Standing is an issue, too.  I say "Please sit down" about a million times during a 10 minute meal

TIDWTFT

 Josh:

1. He now acts sick and sad when I tell him he can't watch videos on my I Phone, in hopes that I will feel bad for him and give him the phone.

2.  At least once a day, he leans over and says "I love you, mom"

Emma:

1. She has the craziest hair but doesn't like to wear hair clips or hair bands.  She normally ends up looking like a cute ragamuffin.

2.  Instead of "I love you" she tells me "I like you, mom"

Both:

1. I am amazed at how much they like to play together.  They create all of these scenarios, like chasing ghosts or looking for spiders and they run around the house talking about it.  They also have started playing with their toy kitchen and barbecue alot.  They call it "playing house."

2. Both of them like to talk about how me, Dan, Josh and Emma are all "family."  They will say "you guys are my family" or "this is our family."  Its precious

End of Summertime

There is a chill in the air and we have packed up all of the summer clothes (thankfully! I was getting bored with their summer wardrobe!)  The colder air has not stopped us from putting on sweatshirts and heading outside after dinner.  I caught some great pictures last night, shows how much fun Emma and Josh are right now!

TIDWTFT

Emma:

 1. She loves to say "I'm not doing anything" when she is clearly getting into something she is not supposed to be.

Josh:

1.His truck obsession has now spread to my I Phone, as he figured out he can watch videos of trucks on it.  He knows how to find the Youtube link and then asks for "Mighty Machines"

Both:

1. When we sit down for dinner, they do this thing where they like to thank everyone for the meal.  It started with thanking me for making the people but now they like to thank Dan and then each other.   And their forks and plates.  And the table.  Its pretty funny!

Bop 'Em

Emma and Josh are entertained by the simplest activities. Last night, it was Dan swinging a pillow at them and yelling "Bop 'Em" while they screamed with laughter and then fell over. We played it for 30 minutes before they got too crazy and we had to quit!
